Measurement

When is server-side tracking really necessary?

9 dakika okuma Yönetici

Server-side tracking means sending measurement requests from a server under your own control rather than from the user's browser. The benefit is clear, but it is not free: there is setup effort and a monthly server cost.

Measure your loss first

A simple test: compare the order count in your e-commerce platform against the purchase count in GA4 for the same day. If the gap is under 10%, do not rush. If it is over 25%, your optimisation is already running on incomplete data.

Where is the threshold?

Roughly: if 2–3% of your monthly ad spend covers the setup and running cost, the investment pays for itself. On budgets below that, fixing the browser-side setup first delivers a higher return.

The mistake people make

Setting up a server-side container and leaving the browser side as it was. In that case the data is counted twice. The migration has to be planned, and the two sources compared throughout the verification period.
